The lab hosted two high school students in the Summer of 2023 through the NYU ARISE program: Rabtah Jinan and Adriana St. Clair.
ARISE is a free seven-week summer program at NYU Tandon Engineering School open to high schoolers living in the five boroughs. Students get an opportunity to work hands-on in laboratories with NYU students and staff. They work on solving real-world problems that are being studied at the university.
Over the summer, they worked with Sheila Atieno and Ands Sanchez on the Aerobiomes as seen by Honeybees project, where they learned to extract DNA, quantify it, and sequence it using 16S metagenomics.
