In the course Biomaterials: IDM x New Lab led by Dr. Elizabeth Hénaff in collaboration with Sara Nejad and New Lab at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, students explored the potential of mycelium as a biomaterial. They created various objects, their innovative designs included mats, containers for remains, and abstract shapes that can be attached to buildings, inspired by the architecture of New York City.
The project culminated in a public presentation at the New Lab space, where students showcased their process and research, demonstrating the versatility and sustainability of mycelium in urban design and everyday objects.
